Police said Jagdish Choksi, a Sagrampura resident who runs the Sai Siddhi financial company, was returning from collecting money on Wednesday afternoon. Choksi stopped at Uddhna to get some petrol when three men on bicycles approached and allegedly took his bag, which contained Rs 38 lakh. The accused immediately fled the scene after allegedly stealing the money, The Indian Express reported.
The police arrived and opened an investigation.
According to a report by The Indian ExpressDeputy Police Commissioner Sajjan Sinh Parmar said, “We have taken statements from Choksi. Our staff reviewed the CCTV footage and confirmed the incident. According to Choksi, his suitcase contained Rs 38 lakh in cash.”
DCP Parmar said he was doing everything possible to arrest the accused and it was suspected that a gang must have been involved in the robbery.
The DCP also said that while carrying huge sums of cash, there were protocols to follow and that they ran programs to educate people about these things.
