KOTA: Three masked disbelievers on motorcycles – despite the deployment of cops to several locations around town amid the festivities – reportedly opened fire on the collection office of a private financial agency, barely 100 feet behind the police station from Gumanpura, Wednesday afternoon. None were injured in the incident.
Efforts are underway to catch the accused and one of them has reportedly been identified. The three young people arrived at the office of the private funding agency in the Gumanpura region on Wednesday and one of them, after getting off the bike, allegedly fired two bullets in the window at the entrance to the office. He then kicked the glass to shatter it, said SHO Lakhan Lal of Gumanpura Police Station. The three fled the location on the motorcycle, he added.
Two to three employees were present inside the office at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured, he added.
Cartridges of both bullets and other evidence were recovered at the scene and sent for examination, he said.
The owner of the office is in Jaipur and on the report of an office worker Irshad Khan, the police have filed a complaint under the IPC sections against the unidentified accused, he added.
One of the three defendants has been identified on the basis of CCTV footage and efforts are underway to establish the identity and locate the other defendant, he added.
The ransom issue is likely the reason for the dismissal, he said.
