East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has approved a proposal to outsource the management and maintenance of the Ambedkar sports complex in Trilokpuri to a private company.
East Delhi Mayor Shyam Sundar Agarwal said he had approved the outsourcing of the complex to a company named M / s Veer Services which will have the right to operate the premises for five years, which can be expanded to 10 years with the approval of the commissioner. and the mutual consent of the parties.
The mayor said the private company would be responsible for the infrastructure development and day-to-day operations of the complex which houses two indoor badminton courts, a soccer field, a cricket pitch and a gymnasium.
“The outsourced company will be responsible for the maintenance, security, operation and management of the premises for the duration of the project and will pay Rs 55,750 per month to the East Delhi Municipal Corporation,” he said. he adds.
Commissioner Vikas Anand said the company will be responsible for campus maintenance, security, water and electricity, parking management, manpower and cleanliness of the site.
He said the land and structure of the constructed building belonged to the EDMC and the company would have no rights over them.
He said the outsourced company is free to renovate and improve the premises at its discretion and that no amount will be claimed from EDMC upon completion of such projects. Any renovation or modernization of the sports complex must be approved by the commissioner of the EDMC, he added.
He informed that the outsourced agency should provide free supervision to children attending EDMC primary schools and also allow the use of sports and related equipment available in the sports complex.
The commissioner indicated that the outsourced agency will have to promote physical and sports education through new programs and develop the sports complex as an institution of excellence. He said the rates for various activities can be revised at any time with the approval of Commissioner EDMC.
