(WFRV) – United States Attorney Matthew Krueger has announced that he will resign as chief law enforcement officer for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
“Serving as a United States attorney has been the greatest privilege of my professional life,” says US Attorney Krueger.
Officials say the resignation will take effect on February 20 and Richard Frohling will become the acting U.S. prosecutor.
The Eastern District of Wisconsin is made up of 28 counties and has offices in Milwaukee and Green Bay. He is responsible for the conduct of all criminal and civil litigation in the district involving the United States government.
Several people from different agencies and showed their appreciation for Krueger.
“US Attorney Krueger has been a true partner in our joint law enforcement mission to keep the citizens of Wisconsin safe,” said FBI Special Agent Robert Hughes.

According to a statement, more than $ 85 million has been recovered in criminal and civil cases as well as numerous hard-hitting lawsuits that have taken place under Krueger’s leadership.

- National security and cybercrime
- The Bureau obtained the first convictions for international terrorism in the history of the district (United States v. Jason Ludke et al.; United States v Waheba Dais).
- Public corruption
- The Bureau successfully prosecuted Nicole Doxator, a Milwaukee County employee, for embezzlement of public funds.
- Healthcare fraud
- Obtaining a settlement with Aurora Health Care, Inc. for inappropriate payments to physicians,
- Financial fraud
- Continuation of a series of frauds suffered by the private sector, including a $ 9 million “green energy” investment program (United States v. Ronald Van Den Heuvel)
- Violent crimes and gangs
- Resources for victims of crime, targeted deterrence programs and prisoner rehabilitation programs to prevent further violent crimes.
- Fighting the drug epidemic
- Krueger created an Opioid Task Force that sent warning letters to prescribers of aberrant opioids and initiated enforcement action in the most egregious cases.
- Civil rights
- The Office continued its long-standing practice of reviewing the use of force by law enforcement officials.
- Trafficking in human beings and exploitation of children
- The Office has been ranked among the most active in the country in indicting sex trafficking, forced labor and child pornography.

Krueger was appointed by former President Trump, unanimously confirmed by the Senate, and sworn in on February 22, 2018, according to a statement.
Krueger served almost five years as an assistant to the United States attorney before taking office. Krueger began his legal career as legal assistant for the Honorable Paul V. Neimeyer at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Krueger received his BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with honors and received his JD summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School.
